Machine Tender & Part-Time Delivery Driver

Position Summary

GMD Industries, a precision machining company serving the aerospace and industrial markets, is seeking a dependable Machine Tender & Part-Time Delivery Driver to support our manufacturing operations.

This is a hands-on position that combines basic manufacturing and machine shop duties with local pickup and delivery responsibilities. Advanced machining experience is not required , although previous manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, production, or delivery experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, willing to learn, comfortable working in a machine shop environment, and able to safely make local deliveries to GMD customers and suppliers.

Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Primary Job Duties

• Wash and clean machined parts using established cleaning procedures.
• Operate chip-spinning equipment to separate cutting fluids from metal chips.
• Count and verify quantities of manufactured parts.
• Sort, organize, and identify parts by job, lot, or work order.
• Perform simple machine tending and basic machine operation after training.
• Load and unload parts from designated machines as instructed.
• Perform basic visual inspection of parts for obvious defects or damage.
• Move parts and materials between production areas.
• Package and prepare parts for outside processing, delivery, or shipment.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Assist machinists and production personnel with general shop duties as needed.
• Make local pickups and deliveries to customers, suppliers, heat treaters, plating companies, inspection facilities, and other outside processing suppliers.
• Load and unload parts and materials for deliveries.
• Verify paperwork and quantities associated with pickups and deliveries.
• Handle customer and supplier parts carefully to prevent damage or loss.
• Maintain communication with GMD regarding delivery and pickup status.
• Follow all GMD safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Previous manufacturing, machine shop, production, warehouse, or similar experience preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Ability to accurately count and keep parts organized by job and lot.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work independently.
• Ability to safely lift and move parts, containers, and materials typically encountered in a machine shop.
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle for local pickups and deliveries.
• Ability to work safely around CNC machines, metal chips, cutting fluids, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Professional and courteous when interacting with GMD customers and suppliers.

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required:

• Machine shop or CNC manufacturing environment
• Machine tending
• Parts washing or cleaning
• Manufacturing or production
• Local delivery driving
• Shipping and receiving
• Material handling
• Basic inspection or quality control
